12 MAY: BTCC BRANDS HATCH
The second round of this years British Touring Car Championship started of with a couple of “one – two’s” for drivers using Cobra seats.
In race one, four-times BTCC Drivers’ Champion Colin Turkington had a pole to flag victory in his Team BMW 330e M Sport, followed home by fellow “Cobra driver” Josh Cook whose spirited drive saw him move up from fifth on the grid to finish second in his LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ Toyota Corolla GR Sport.
Brands Hatch was bathed in sunshine for race two, which saw Colin Turkington again take a “comfortable” pole to flag win, while behind him there was another classic BTCC elbows out battle for the minor places on the grid. This time it was Tom Ingram who fought his way from 7th on the grid to claim second place on the podium.
In what promises to be one of the closest Drivers’ Championships for years that leaves Colin Turkington just two points off the top of the drivers’ standings with Tom Ingram just a further eight points back in third.
