BTCC: DONINGTON

Cobra Seats is proud to be at the vanguard of innovation – whether it be seat design or developing a revolutionary design for seat nets to further improve driver safety – so it seems entirely appropriate that when the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship became the first major touring car series in the world to integrate hybrid power into all of its race cars, not only was the first driver to claim pole in the hybrid era using a Cobra seat, but so were the winners of the first three races.

In fact, of the top eleven qualifiers, no fewer than ten had chosen Cobra Seats (including a BMW 330e M Sport front row lockout for Jake Hill and Colin Turkington) while all three podium positions in both of the two opening races were claimed by drivers using Cobra Seats.

As an introduction to the various teams and drivers who have chosen to use Cobra Seats in the 2022 BTCC season, here they are in grid order from the first qualifying of the season:

JAKE HILL: ROKiT MB MOTORSPORT (BMW 330e M SPORT)

COLIN TURKINGTON: TEAM BMW (BMW 330e M SPORT)

TOM INGRAM: BRISTOL STREET MOTORS WITH TRADE PRICE CARS.COM (EXCELR8 HYUNDAI i30N)

GEORGE GAMBLE: CAR GODS WITH CICELY MOTORSPORT (BMW 330e M SPORT)

GORDON SHEDDEN: HALFORDS RACING WITH CATACLEAN (HONDA CIVIC TYPE R)

STEPHEN JELLEY:  TEAM BMW (BMW 330e M SPORT)

JOSH COOK: RICH ENERGY BTC RACING (HONDA CIVIC TYPE R)

JADE EDWARDS: RICH ENERGY BTC RACING (HONDA CIVIC TYPE R)

RORY BUTCHER: TOYOTA GAZOO RACING UK (TOYOTA COROLLA GR SPORT)

The list contains plenty of “old friends” – drivers and teams who have used Cobra seats while winning no fewer than eight of the last eleven BTCC Driver’s Championships, and a fair smattering of names that are new to the “Cobra Family” – we wish them all well. Here’s to a great 2022 season.
