No, it’s not some crazy dream - it represents just two of the orders shipped out by Telford based Cobra Seats during the current Covid-19 crisis.
Like most companies, life hasn’t been easy for Cobra who have had to rely on the dedication of a skeleton staff and whose traditional customer base has been severely disrupted by the lockdown. However, that hasn’t stopped Cobra from proactively developing both new and existing markets.
In addition to their core business of designing and building sports seats for the automotive sector, Cobra has developed an impressive reputation supplying dugout seating to the majority of Premier League and Championship clubs in England – not to mention a fair smattering of clubs in Europe.
It transpires that the enforced stadia shutdown has not stopped clubs planning for the future – as evidenced by two significant orders that Cobra won in May and delivered in June and July.
Firstly, a new sponsorship deal meant that Liverpool FC replaced their existing Cobra Daytona seats with 26 new Cobra seats in their redesigned “socially distanced” dugout … just in time for the team to be crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 30 years.
However, the crown for the largest single stadia order in Cobra’s history goes to Ilkeston Town FC - a team currently in the 8th tier of English football – though with obvious ambitions to go much higher. As part of the club’s major redevelopment of its New Manor Ground, Cobra supplied no fewer than 56 of its Daytona seats to grace both the club’s dugouts and dressing rooms.
“We have always emphasised that Cobra can help to create financial packages that puts top of the range dugout seating in the reach of most clubs, but it was really exciting to see our message embraced so fully by the owners at Ilkeston Town - and the fact that they have smashed our record for the largest single stadia order speaks volumes about their foresight and vision for the club” said Mark Dunsford, Cobra’s Managing Director.
